Team Kingston, joined by a few loan signings from Bernicia, recently participated in the Business Fives Charity 5-a-Side tournament.

Taking on teams from across the region, Team Kingston enjoyed an impressive run through the competition, progressing to the Europa League semi-finals after an unbeaten group stage.

A valiant effort in the semi-final saw the team push eventual winners Turnitin all the way to a penalty shootout, where their tournament came to an end.

Unfortunately, team top scorer Kieran Robson stepped up for the decisive penalty and saw his spot kick denied. Although discussions are ongoing, sources suggest his loan spell will not be made permanent.

Team Kingston did go home empty-handed though – the team was proudly crowned Top Fundraiser, raising an incredible £1,875 for our charity partner 4Louis. The trophy was presented by guest speaker, former Newcastle United and Sunderland midfielder Lee Clark.

The total included donations originally made in support of the cancelled We’re a Knockout fundraiser, with supporters generously choosing to leave their contributions.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and to the players who represented Kingston so brilliantly throughout the tournament: Adam Storey (C), Josh Buxton, Sean Heads, Kieran Robson, Stuart Liversedge, David Warwick, Drew Eastlake, and Joe Surridge.
