Belvedere Gardens Refurbishment

A huge refurbishment project at Belvedere Gardens has been completed.

Belvedere Gardens has undergone a complete transformation following a series of upgrades over a three-year period.

The development, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, has been managed by Kingston since 2009 and consists of seven individual blocks with a total of 90 apartments and two bungalows.

Stephen Stoker, Property Manager, identified the required improvements upon taking over the site and has overseen the project at each stage, starting with the internal decoration in 2021 until the external upgrade was completed earlier this year.

Internal Decoration

A refresh of the communal hallways and staircases within each block was long overdue and they have undergone a comprehensive makeover. Carpets, stair handrails and balustrades have been replaced, new wallpaper and paint has been applied to the walls, and individual apartment doors and entrances received a fresh coat of paint.

External Upgrades

Various onsite issues have been rectified while updates were carried out to the building exterior and surrounding areas. The fountain is now fully functional and cleaned on an annual basis, new porch roofs and gutter repairs have fixed a flooding issue, and LED lights have been installed on freshly painted lampposts.

Additionally, the general appearance of the site is much improved by new gates and painted fences, railings, and walls. The bin stores have also been repaired and painted.

The onsite fountain was repaired in 2021 and a new cleaning schedule implemented. Block entrances have new porch roofs, repaired gutters, and painted doors.

Exterior brickwork was due fresh paint. LED lights, new lamp heads, and painted posts.

Gates to the development have been replaced. Bin store areas look brand new.

Cunningham and Wilkinson were very accommodating during all decorating, keeping the Residents Group involved and meeting with them onsite. Clearflow carried out the fountain repairs and Securetech were responsible for installing the lighting.

Huge credit goes to Stephen, who oversaw each aspect of the project, meeting with the Residents Group every fortnight and coordinating with contractors. Stephen described the project as a “labour of love” at one of his most favourite and challenging sites.
